The rapid technology advancement has made the use of the Internet a part of people's daily lives. However, lawbreakers always take advantage of security loopholes on computers and launch various cyber attacks that lead to massive losses to individuals and private and public organizations. As a result, it is crucial for maintaining cyber security.
To increase cyber security awareness among local primary, secondary and tertiary students on safe use of the Internet and social media, and to identify computer and IT talents, the CSTCB, JPC and the University of Hong Kong have jointly organized the “Cyber Security Competition 2017” (the Competition), aiming at promoting “Cyber Security Starts From Youth”.
The Competition consists of three divisions, namely Primary School Division, Secondary School Division, and Tertiary Student Division.
There are two phases in the Competition. The first phase is the “Online Quiz Challenge" to be held between 1st September and 30th November 2017. The second phase is the “Cyber Security Challenge” to be held on 10th February 2018. The primary and secondary schools, and the tertiary students achieving the top scores in the first phase will be invited to form teams of three students to participate in the second phase. The winners will be awarded with certificates and prizes.
